HANDLING OF CHEMICALS
If the
chemical is transferred in to smaller container or secondary container the
chemical identification and its associated hazards must be clearly labeled.
All stocked
chemicals should be staged to affect a First-in, First-out (FIFO) stock
rotation process to ensure that oldest chemicals are used first.
The
chemical once emptied, the emptied can used, should be removed & placed in
designated trash dumpster.
Each chemical should have
transporting single container to administer the chemical.
During
handling chemicals all the PPE given to the person should be worn compulsorily
RISKS ASSESMENT
Results in
minor and major injuries.
Leads to
skin corrosion/ burning.
Leads to severe health problem
upon inhalation of fumes.
PREVENTION
Use of PPE (PVC or Neoprene
gloves, Chemical goggles, Apron, face mask, safety shoes).
Use of spill kit for use, in
spill situations.
Periodic cleaning of storage
area.
Good ventilation.
ISSUING
OF CHEMICALS
Chemicals
are issued only by the authorized and trained persons.
Only
limited amount of chemicals are advised to administer based on the amount of
chemical mentioned in the recipe.
During
administration 2 or 3 chemicals should not be mixed and given in the same sub
container.
Careful
handling of chemicals during transporting is very necessary.
DISPOSAL PROCESS
The emptied can used, should be
removed & placed in designated trash dumpster.
Care should be taken that the
emptied chemical can, should not contain any chemical residue in it.
The cans are finally returned
back to the respective supplier.
